Assam: Bijoy Malakar’s massive mandate strengthens BJP’s hold in Barak Valley
With one of the biggest victory margins in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, BJP leader Bijoy Malakar has further strengthened his political position in Barak Valley and emerged as a major face of the party in southern Assam. Winning by more than 80,000 votes from the Ram Krishna Nagar constituency, Malakar secured one of the highest victory margins among all MLAs in the state, underlining his growing influence in the region.
Born on January 1, 1980, Bijoy Malakar belongs to the R.K. Nagar area of Karimganj, now part of Sribhumi district. He is the son of Sankar Malakar and Pranoti Malakar.
