Meghalaya’s areca nut plantations are going extinct
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has underlined the necessity of targeted research to address the difficulties encountered by areca nut plants, especially in areas such as Meghalaya.Chouhan said, "If there is a need for research on how to save areca nut plants, ICAR should give its full strength and focus. The urgent problem of bud rot disease has had a significant impact on areca nut crops. How areca nuts can endure in this climate is a topic our scientists are researching."
