
The Byatikram Group, in association with The Times of India and the Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban, is all set to host the second edition of “Remembering the Maestro – S.D. Burman”, a grand musical evening celebrating the timeless genius of the legendary composer Sachin Dev Burman. The event will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 5 PM at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong. The announcement was made at a press meet held at the Shillong Press Club in the presence of Dr. Saumen Bharatiya, Patron-in-Chief of Byatikram Group; Pankaj Deb, President of Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban; and members Alakananda Sen, Pritam Lahiri, and Urmimala Choudhury.
As a symbolic homage to Burman’s 69 remarkable years (1906–1975), 69 artists from Bahaar Group will perform a special chorus in his memory. The evening will be graced by Shri Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar, Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests for the evening include renowned names such as Lou Majaw, Manisha Hazarika, Naba Bhattacharjee, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Tripathi, Soheli Seal, Seema Sharma, Manika Chandra, and Dr. Reema Das Mallik, among others. A major highlight will be the presentation of the“S.D. Burman Memorial Byatikram Lifetime Achievement Award 2025” to Shillong’s very own Rudy Wallang, the iconic blues-rock guitarist, vocalist, and composer.
Last year’s recipient was Zubeen Garg, honoured in the presence of the Governors of Assam and Telangana. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saumen Bharatiya said. The event will feature performances by Jayati Bhattacharjee, Chandrima Bhattacharjee, Binita Devi, Anaya Brahma, Urmimala Choudhury, Dr. Jayashree Devi, and Indrani Dutta, along with a special dance performance by Panchali Sarkar. Together, they will recreate Burman’s timeless magic through soulful renditions and artistic expressions. Dedicated to the late Zubeen Garg, the evening promises to be a confluence of melody, memory, and magnificence — a heartfelt tribute to one of India’s greatest musical icons.
