The evening commenced with Meghalaya Governor Shri Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar, followed by a 69-artist medley representing the maestro’s 69-year life, delivered by the Bahaar Group. Felicitations for distinguished guests, including legal, artistic, and corporate leaders, reinforced the cross-sectoral interest in cultural investments.

The highlight was the “S.D. Burman Byatikram Lifetime Achievement Award” presented to Shillong musician Rudy Wallang, whose recognition reflects rising opportunities for regional talent monetization and audience engagement. The Governor suggested setting up an S.D. Burman Academy of Music, indicating potential long-term institutional growth in arts education.

Performances by Jayati Bhattacharjee, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Binita Devi, Sur Manjari, and dance troupes captivated attendees, reflecting strong consumer demand for curated cultural experiences.
