Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon, named India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six years in a row, has extended its footprint in the Northeast with an emphasis on precision oncology powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics. The initiative supports broader national and state-level health policy objectives of strengthening tertiary care access in underserved regions.
At an awareness event in Dimapur on September 16, organized with NGO Beyond Cancer and Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dr. Amit Bhargava, Director of Medical Oncology, underlined how AI-driven platforms can predict treatment responses, identify drug targets, and enable targeted therapies, moving beyond conventional chemotherapy. He highlighted that early detection remains critical for policy outcomes in reducing cancer mortality, particularly in the Northeast where incidence rates are among the highest nationally.
Medanta’s entry complements government efforts to decentralize advanced healthcare delivery. As Upper Assam’s healthcare hub, This integration could stimulate healthcare investments, generate employment, and reduce economic losses from outbound medical travel. The initiative also saw Medanta doctors conduct OPDs, the launch of a Northeast helpline (0124-6930090), and the release of a health awareness booklet with IDAN, endorsed by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
