
Following her defeat in the Tura parliamentary seat elections, National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Agatha K Sangma pledged to persist in her dedication to serving the people of Garo Hills and Meghalaya. Despite a significant margin of 1,55,241 votes, with Congress candidate Saleng A Sangma emerging victorious with 3,83,919 votes, Agatha K Sangma, the incumbent MP and sibling of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, garnered 2,28,678 votes in the Tura Lok Sabha seat of Meghalaya.
In a statement shared on the microblogging platform X, Agatha expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a Member of Parliament. “It has been an honor to serve the people of Garo Hills as their MP, and I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity that was bestowed upon me. Although I did not secure victory in this election, I remain committed to serving the people of Garo Hills and Meghalaya in every capacity possible,” she conveyed.
Agatha extended her appreciation towards Congress’ Saleng Sangma for his triumph in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. “I extend my gratitude to my Party, the National People’s Party, and all those who supported me during this period. I extend my best wishes to Mr. Saleng Sangma and hope he will effectively lead our people. May the Almighty bless the people of our state. Jai Hind!” she concluded, displaying resilience and goodwill despite the electoral setback.
