
North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, will proudly host the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 – Software Edition on 8″ and 9″ December 2025. SIH, an initiative of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), will bring together top innovators from across India to develop cutting-edge solutions for real-world problems faced by government, industry, and society.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on 8″ December 2025 at the Multi-Convention Hall, NEHU, and will witness the participation of distinguished dignitaries, mentors, evaluators, student innovators, and delegates from various institutions. Santosh V. T., Scientist-F & State Information Officer, National Informatics Centre (NIC), MeitY, Government of India will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, and will deliver the keynote address, encouraging participants to leverage technology for advancing India’s digital growth. Yogesh Brahmankar, Director (Innovation), Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Government of India, New Delhi, will be the Guest of Honour.
The central nationwide in auguration of SIH teams will also be streamed live, connecting NEHU to innovation hubs across the country. A high tea will be arranged for dignitaries following the inaugural programme. With the theme “Hack for Bharat, Build for the World,” SIH 2025 at NEHU will showcase the talent and creativity of young innovators and will reaffirm the university’s commitment to promoting technological excellence, entrepreneurship, and research- led development. NEHU looks forward to welcoming all participants and partners and to hosting an impactful and inspiring Grand Finale of SIH 2025.
