Responding proactively to concerns raised by the North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU), the NEHU administration has officially implemented a series of new road safety regulations within the campus, marking a significant step toward ensuring safer mobility for its growing community.
The measures include strictly enforced speed limits, along with mandatory helmet use for all two-wheeler riders and cyclists. With rising movement across the university grounds, officials noted that disciplined road behaviour has become essential to prevent mishaps and safeguard students, staff, and visitors.
NEHUSU, which had highlighted the pressing need for improved campus safety, welcomed the decision. The union expressed appreciation for the administration’s swift action, urging every member of the NEHU community to adhere to the guidelines, ride responsibly, and play an active role in building a safer and more considerate campus environment. As NEHU moves toward a more regulated and safety-conscious commuting culture, the initiative stands as a reminder that collective responsibility and timely action can significantly reduce risks and protect lives.
