MoS Savitri Thakur emphasizes digital compliance in delivering welfare

Savitri Thakur, the Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, continued her three-day official tour of Meghalaya with a number of on-the-ground evaluations meant to improve the state’s welfare delivery systems. Thakur evaluated the operational efficacy and care standards of important women’s and children’s development facilities in Shillong on the second day of her tour. These facilities included the One Stop Centre at Ganesh Das Hospital, Shakti Sadan at Mawroh, and a Child Care Institution in Mawkasiang.

The visit was expanded to include rural areas, where the minister inspected the Aqua Park-cum-Visitor Information Center at Khliehshnong, the Community Health Center and Anganwadi Center at Mawsmai, and schemes under MGNREGA, PMAY-G, and PMGSY. In order to avoid central funding shortfalls, the Union Minister in Shillong earlier stressed the critical requirement for prompt data submission in the Poshan Tracker. There is no question that the government is working there, but Poshan Tracker is not receiving the information. “The information must be entered into Poshan Tracker,” she stated.

Meghalaya’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has visited the state to address challenges such as hilly terrain and poor internet connectivity. She emphasized the importance of digital compliance for smooth fund flow and accountability. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has registered all Anganwadi Centres on the Poshan Tracker app, enhancing transparency and efficiency. Thakur also discussed the need to address structural issues like maternal and infant mortality rates and child marriage. The visit is part of a focused initiative to ensure Central government-sponsored schemes reach women and children in both urban and rural areas.
