Meghalaya’s CM CONNECT resolves over 3,200 grievances in first year, strengthens governance

Meghalaya’s CM CONNECT initiative has successfully addressed over 3,200 citizen grievances in its first year, showcasing the state’s commitment to improving governance and enhancing accessibility for the people. Launched in February 2024, the platform operates through multiple channels, including phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and in-person hearings, to directly connect citizens with the Chief Minister’s office.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma emphasized the importance of accessible and transparent governance, stating, “CM Connect is not just a helpline; it’s a platform for listening, understanding, and acting with urgency.”

One notable success of CM CONNECT was its prompt response to a request for funding to renovate a private school in Ranikor. ₹5.9 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund was allocated after the village secretary highlighted the school’s deteriorating infrastructure. Local leaders praised the platform for its swift action.

In another instance, concerns about power outages and road deterioration in Laitkor were swiftly addressed, with power restored and road repairs underway within hours.

In its first year, CM CONNECT has processed over 1,400 Village Data Volunteer interactions, 508 public hearings, 15,000 phone calls, 1,500 WhatsApp messages, and nearly 300 physical petitions, making it a highly responsive and effective tool in ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard and acted upon.
