A 14-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Umpling Dong Shaneng on Sunday evening was safely traced by police in the early hours of Monday. Acting on specific inputs, authorities found her around 3:30 am at a house in the same locality, Umpling Dong Shaneng Block-5. According to Umpling Rangbah Shnong, Sanwat Fair Pyngrope, the girl was discovered in the company of a boy, with whom she was reportedly acquainted.
Following her recovery, the girl was taken for a medical examination, which revealed no signs of harm. She was later handed over to her family, while the boy was taken into police custody for further questioning. Pyngrope emphasised that there was nothing alarming in the medical report and confirmed the girl was unharmed.
Earlier that night, an emergency meeting was held in the locality around 12:30 am, where residents were asked to suspend the search until morning. The girl’s safe return brought immense relief to the community, especially after recent tragic cases in nearby Nongrah, where two missing minors were found dead. The quick police response helped prevent further panic among residents.
