In a solemn and dignified ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar was conferred with the prestigious Kaveri Prashasti Award in recognition of his exceptional contribution to public service and leadership. The award was presented by Dr. Sri Sri Trinetra Mahanta Shivayogi Swamiji, head of the Sri Durdandeshwara Mahanta Shivayogi Math, Mandya district, and Sri DMS Chandravana Ashrama, Srirangapatna, Karnataka. The ceremony, marked by warmth and reverence, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Cabinet Minister Marcuise N. Marak, and Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, along with senior government officials and distinguished guests.

In a moment of humility, the Governor revealed that this was the first award he had ever accepted in his 69 years, describing it as a shared honour with the people of Meghalaya. “This award is not mine alone; it belongs to the people of Meghalaya who inspire me every day,” he remarked, drawing heartfelt applause from the gathering. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, in his congratulatory address, hailed the Governor’s unwavering commitment to good governance, simplicity, and moral strength. “Governor Vijayashankar embodies the true spirit of public service. His humility, integrity, and steadfast dedication to the welfare of citizens make him an inspiration to all,” Sangma said.
