The Meghalaya Football Association has announced plans to set up its own football academy in Shillong, taking a step towards building a stronger and more organised system for developing young footballers in the state.
The proposed academy, to be known as the MFA Academy, will focus on long-term development of players. According to the association, the aim is to provide structured training to children at a young age and guide them gradually through different age groups, eventually preparing them for senior-level football.
Officials said the academy is being planned to create a clear and steady pathway for talented players. The focus will be on regular coaching, discipline, and proper football education, rather than short-term results. The association believes this approach will help improve the overall standard of football in Meghalaya over time.
