Conrad K. Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, announced the implementation of game-based learning for kids in the state, highlighting how it might improve their cognitive, motor, perceptual, and self-regulation abilities. The Chief Minister stated during the opening of the Model Creative Learning Centre (MCLC) at Dobakkol in Tura that the goal of the government’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) program is to establish similar learning centers throughout the state. Sangma stated that the early years, which last from birth to age eight, are a crucial time for the development of creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. “This initiative is a scientific approach to ensure that our children receive the best foundation during their formative years,” he added.
“The state government has funded the infrastructure, but it will be the collective responsibility of the organization to ensure that the center becomes fully functional,” the Chief Minister stated, highlighting Mere Mentor’s partnership with Dobakkol Non-Government L.P. School in the establishment of the MCLC. The Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) approved a project budget of Rs 50 lakh. According to Sangma, the MCLC is a flagship program that supports learning through games and activities. “To construct a special model that works for Meghalaya, we have researched early childhood development frameworks from Europe and the UK. We are transforming anganwadis into smart anganwadis as part of this strategy,” he stated.
