MBOSE SSLC 2026 results out: 86.84% pass, over 42,000 students clear exams

The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on Tuesday declared the results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2026, with an overall pass percentage of 86.84 per cent. This year, a total of 48,623 students appeared for the examination, out of which 42,228 candidates successfully passed. The pass percentage is slightly lower than last year’s 87.10 per cent, but officials said the overall performance trend remains stable.Among the toppers, Wangaal Lama of Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, Shillong secured the first position with 585 marks. Vishal Kumar of Embee Rosebud Higher Secondary School, Tura stood second with 576 marks.

The third position was jointly held by Prajukta Roy of Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Prinita Das of Pechon A Sangma Memorial Police Public Secondary School, Tura, both scoring 575 marks. Three students — Samdi Mukhim, Nathanael Mantre Laloo, and Wandarihun Lyngkhoi — shared the fourth position with 572 marks each. Jenita Pator secured the fifth position with 571 marks. The results showed strong performance by regular candidates. Regular-1 candidates recorded a pass percentage of 93.30 per cent, while Regular-2 candidates achieved 80.72 per cent. In comparison, non-regular and private candidates reported lower success rates. In terms of gender performance, boys recorded a pass percentage of 94.14 per cent, slightly higher than girls at 92.88 per cent in the regular category.

District-wise, West Jaintia Hills emerged as the top-performing district with a pass percentage of 94.99 per cent. It was followed by South West Khasi Hills at 94.60 per cent and East Khasi Hills at 94.17 per cent. East Khasi Hills also had the highest number of successful candidates. On the other hand, districts in the Garo Hills region reported lower pass percentages. East Garo Hills recorded 72.33 per cent, North Garo Hills 72.70 per cent, and South West Garo Hills 74.54 per cent.
