Key discussions between Assam and Meghalaya in Guwahati

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, held lengthy talks with Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, during the Chief Ministers’ Level Meeting in Guwahati on a number of crucial interstate problems. Assam and Meghalaya came to the realization during the conference that progress in both states is mutually inclusive and that cooperation is necessary to advance on the development road. Additionally, with funding from the Assamese government, Assam and Meghalaya will work together to build the Kulsi Irrigation project, which will help both states’ farmers.

However, following consultations with the local residents, the 55 MW Kulsi Power Project would be jointly constructed by both states. The boundary conflict between Assam and Meghalaya was another topic of discussion. “Of the six boundary conflicts that have been settled, there are a few little snags that will be fixed shortly following talks between the parties involved, and boundary pillars will be marked. On his official Twitter X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The remaining six disputed sites will be resolved at a mutually agreeable time.” Guwahati’s urban flooding problem has been resolved by both states, which is advantageous to both.
