Godspeed Racing and MMS Partner to Bring National Championship to Meghalaya

The Northeast is set to witness a historic sporting milestone as the Meghalaya Motorsports Society (MMS) officially announced that the prestigious MRF MO-GRIP Supercross FMSCI National Championship will debut in the region on April 11, 2026. The high-octane event will be held at Madan Kurkalang in the Ri-Bhoi district, marking a significant leap for motorsports in Meghalaya.

Addressing a press conference at the Shillong Press Club, Shyam Kothari, the promoter of the championship and head of Godspeed Racing, expressed his excitement about bringing the event to the state. With over 22 years of experience and 500 events organized nationwide, Kothari noted that hosting a national-level championship in the Northeast has been a long-held ambition. He credited the collaboration with local organizers and the palpable enthusiasm of the people of Meghalaya for finally bringing the project to fruition.

The championship is designed to be inclusive, featuring a wide range of competitive categories. These include junior classes for young riders aged 9–11, 12–14, and 16–17, as well as the prestigious Indian Expert Open class for seasoned professionals. To ensure a professional standard, the event will consist of rigorous qualifying rounds and practice sessions leading up to the final races. Kothari emphasized that safety remains the top priority, with strict protocols and full medical support being stationed at the venue for both competitors and spectators.

Phoebe Dale Nongrum, President of the Meghalaya Motorsports Society, highlighted that the region is already a breeding ground for champions who have competed on national stages. She expressed confidence that hosting a national championship locally would inspire a new generation of youth to pursue motorsports and help position Meghalaya as an emerging hub for the sport.

Beyond the dirt tracks and roaring engines, the event is set to be a major public attraction, featuring entertainment programs including music and band competitions. With the combination of elite racing and local culture, organizers are confident that this landmark event will leave a lasting impression on the sporting landscape of the Northeast.
