F4S Initiative Promotes Football and Life Skills at Schools in East Jaintia Hills

The “Football for Schools (F4S)” programme was conducted at JNV School in Rymbai, East Jaintia Hills district, aiming to empower youth and instill discipline through football. The event, which took place on Friday, involved the distribution of FIFA footballs to 29 schools in the district. Organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in collaboration with FIFA for Schools and the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the programme included various activities such as a lamp-lighting ceremony, a traditional dance performance, a motivational speech by a student who found success through football, a friendly match between JNV Rymbai and other schools, and the distribution of a total of 112 footballs to participating schools.

Important attendees included Dr. Raj Kumar, Principal of JNV School Rymbai, DSEO R.K. Diengdoh, and a representative from the MLA’s office, among other teachers, students, and staff members. During his address, R.K. Diengdoh highlighted the initiative as indicative of the significant impact sports have in shaping young minds and promoting overall development. He emphasized that “Football teaches vital life skills like teamwork, discipline, and perseverance,” and expressed that the programme will encourage students to engage with football and pursue their sporting ambitions.

Principal Dr. Raj Kumar pointed out that this initiative reflects the Government of India’s commitment through the Ministry of Education. He expressed optimism that it would equip students with essential qualities, nurturing their patience for the game while also promoting physical fitness, discipline, and unity. He reinforced that “Football teaches resilience and collaboration,” underscoring the broader life skills that the sport can impart to young participants.
