Demand for separate Cadre and Khasi- Jaintia State gains momentum: HSPDP

HSPDP president KP Pangiang has reaffirmed the party’s push for a separate Meghalaya cadre and a separate Khasi-Jaintia State, alongside GNC’s Garoland demand. He said CM Conrad is pursuing the cadre issue with the Centre. A delegation will soon protest at Jantar Mantar. HSPDP will not contest MLA or MDC polls in Garo Hills, staying focused on its statehood agenda.

The Khasi-Jaintia state demand has remain an issue with some pressure groups from Shillong and Garo Hills, who have voiced string inclination towards division of Meghalaya into two states- Garo majority, and Khasi-Jaintia majority.
