Shillong is preparing for one of its biggest live music moments yet as legendary British rock band Def Leppard is set to launch its India tour in the hill city on March 25, 2026. The concert will take place at JN Stadium, Polo Grounds, marking a major milestone for the Northeast, which has rapidly emerged as a preferred destination for international performers. The three-city tour will begin in Shillong before moving to Mumbai’s Jio World Garden on March 27 and concluding in Bengaluru’s Nice Grounds on March 29. Tickets for all venues will be available exclusively on BookMyShow starting 12 pm on December 13, 2025.
Formed in 1977 in Sheffield, Def Leppard rose to worldwide fame through the 1980s with albums that defined an era of rock music. With more than 100 million records sold, and chart-topping releases like Pyromania and Hysteria, the band remains one of the most influential names in modern rock. Their sound—marked by soaring harmonies, precision guitar work, and arena-filling energy—continues to draw fans across generations. Despite lineup changes over the decades, including the tragic passing of guitarist Steve Clark in 1991, Def Leppard’s longevity has made them a permanent fixture in global rock history. Their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, coupled with two Diamond-certified albums, underscores their standing as one of the world’s most successful live acts.
Lead vocalist Joe Elliott, expressing excitement ahead of the tour, said, “We’re thrilled to announce our India tour dates in 2026. Playing for our fans in India is always special for us. We can’t wait to see you soon!” Co-lead guitarist Phil Collen added, “We are delighted to finally make it to India next year. It’s going to be an incredible night for all the fans!” The upcoming tour builds on Def Leppard’s recent global successes, including a massive world run with Mötley Crüe that sold over 2.1 million tickets across 27 countries, a triumphant headline show at Wembley Stadium in 2023, and the release of their orchestral album Drastic Symphonies, recorded at Abbey Road Studios. BookMyShow Live’s Bandland On Tour series is bringing the group to India, continuing its effort to introduce world-renowned rock acts to Indian audiences. Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer – Live Events at BookMyShow, said the tour represents an important moment for the country’s rock culture, adding that the platform aims to connect legendary artists with their long-standing Indian fan base.
