The Dorbar Shnong Brishyrnot, in coordination with the Dorbar Shnong Khaddum, has announced that Chympe Falls will remain closed to the general public, visitors, and tourists on all Sundays starting January 25, 2026, as well as on selected days every year. The decision has been taken collectively by both village councils in the interest of community welfare and effective management of tourism activities at the site. As per the notice issued, Chympe Falls will remain closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day on December 25 and 26, New Year’s Day on January 1, Independence Day on August 15, Republic Day on January 26, and all Sundays throughout the year. The Dorbar Shnongs stated that the closure is necessary as Sundays and these specific days are reserved for community engagements, religious observances, and village activities. Another major reason cited for the closure is the non-availability of essential tourist facilities on these days.
Parking areas, local shops, guide services, and other support systems remain shut, making it difficult to manage visitors safely and effectively. The Dorbar Shnongs emphasised that keeping the tourist spot open without these facilities could lead to inconvenience, safety concerns, and mismanagement. Visitors and tourists have been encouraged to plan their trips from Monday to Saturday, when all facilities and services at Chympe Falls will be fully operational. The village authorities expressed regret for any inconvenience caused but sought cooperation from the public in respecting the decision. The notice further warned that any tourist, visitor, or guide found violating the closure order will face strict action as per the resolutions of both Dorbar Shnongs. The village councils reiterated their commitment to balancing tourism development with community interests and sustainable management of local resources.
