Three-day International Conference on Interdisciplinary Statistics inaugurated in NEHU

The inaugural function of International Conference on 'Advances of Interdisciplinary Statistics and Applications in AI & ML (AISAAM-2025)', organized by the Department of Statistics, NEHU, Shillong, was held at Multi-Use Convention Hall in NEHU under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor (in-charge), Prof. N. Meghalaya: HC wants stray dog shelter to be ready within 30 days

The High Court of Meghalaya on Monday directed the Shillong Municipal Board to try and ensure that the construction of the shelter for street dogs is completed within the stipulated 30 days’ time, followed by the sheltering of the animals there. Further, the court directed the state government through the Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department to verify the authenticity of the Director’s statement that shelter for street dogs cannot be provided at the shelter of the department. Police arrest 5 criminals with arms in Shillong

Acting on specific intel, police on Monday arrested five suspected criminals from Mawsynram and recovered a country made pistol with four rounds of .22 calibre ammunition and incriminating documents from their possession. The five have been identified as Aidonsing Nongsiej (40), Orally Khardewsaw (33), Wanrilang Nongkynrih (33), Mossingstar Nongbri (28) and Pynshailang Puwein (30). Confirming the arrest, East Khasi Hill SP Vivek Syiem said one of the five persons was wanted in connection with a cheating case registered at Lumdiengjri police station. Refusing to divulge more, he said that a case has been registered at Mawsynram police station.
