Assam CM shares delightful pictures of Salazar Slytherin snake discovered in Assam

Assam's Kaziranga National park has recently found a snake named Salazar Slytherin. The is named as such after Harry Potter character. Harry Potter one of the most watched series novel by kids specially written by author JK Rowling. In the novel Harry Potter, Salazar Slytherin was one of the co-founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Along with Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff, Slytherin established the school. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma delighted sharing the pictures of the snake posted on his social media handle saying, "Guess what, kids? Kaziranga just found a real-life Harry Potter snake! Meet the super cool Salazar Pit Viper: it's green like magic and has a funky red-orange stripe on its head. Isn't nature awesome."

SBI upgrade Rs 10,000 Crore through long-term infrastructure bonds

State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday said it has raised Rs 10,000 Crore through its sixth infrastructure bond issue offering a coupon of 7.36 percent. The bank said the issue received bids worth over Rs 18,145 Crore and was oversubscribed by about 3.6 times against the base issue size of Rs 5,000 Crore. The total number of bids received from investors from various sectors including provident funds, pension funds, insurance companies, mutual funds and corporate was 120. The lender said the proceeds of the bonds with 15-year maturity will be used to raise long-term resources to finance infrastructure and affordable housing sectors. Employment rate provisionally araise to 6% in FY2024 from 3.2% in FY2023: RBI data

According to Reserve Bank of India data, the country's employment rate grew by 6 percent in the financial year ending March 31, 2024, up from 3.2 percent in 2022-23.Employment in the country improved by 4.67 crore to 64.33 crore (provisional) in the fiscal year 2023-24, from 59.67 crore in 2022-23, the RBI’s Measuring Productivity at the Industry Level-The India KLEMS [Capital, Labour, Energy, Material and Services] database showed.RBI data shows that employment in the country stood at 57.75 crore in the year ending 2022-23, while it was 56.56 crore in 2021-22.The database covers 27 industries covering the entire Indian economy. Share price of Domes Industries surged over 5% on Monday to hit a record high of ₹2,367.50 on the BSE after brokerage firm Axis Securities initiated coverage with a bullish outlook on the stock. CRISIL MI&A Research said prices of representative home-cooked vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis increased by 6 percent and 4 percent, respectively, on a month-on-month basis in June 2024. It said the cost of a vegetarian thali has increased month-on-month mainly due to increase in prices of vegetables, with prices of potatoes, onions and tomatoes increasing by 9 percent, 15 percent and 29 percent respectively due to inferior arrivals. The price of non-veg thali also increased due to higher prices of vegetables, but an estimated one per cent monthly increase in the cost of broilers, which is 50 percent of the cost of non-veg thali, prevented further increase. Two arrested with firearm and two cartridges in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05 July (Retd.). NJP police have arrested two people with firearms and two cartridges. The accused have been identified as Narayan Mandal and Sanath Barman, residents of Kamranguri and West Dhantala in Phulbari. Police sources have revealed that both of them had reached Kashmir Colony area adjacent to NJP on a scooter to exchange weapons. Meanwhile, a law enforcement team from NJP police station, acting on a tip-off, raided the area on Thursday night. Upon searching the two-wheeler, officials recovered a firearm with two rounds of ammunition, leading to his arrest. After this, the scooter involved in the incident was also confiscated. Both the arrested were presented in Jalpaiguri court on Friday. At present the police is inquiring the entire matter.

Illegal tea cultivation on government land devastate on orders of High Court in Siliguri

Siliguri, 3rd July . Following the order of the High Court, tea plantations planted illegally on Forest Department land in Siliguri have been destroyed. Reports show that a person was doing business by planting a tea garden on several bighas of government land in Farbari Nepali Basti area under Dabgram-Phulbari. Despite the man's claims of ownership, the forest department had earlier directed him to remove the tea plantation, but he did not comply. The case was taken to the High Court and after a long legal battle the court ordered the release of the land. On Wednesday, as per the court's direction, a large contingent of police and forest officials supervised the destruction of the entire tea garden.

During a press conference at Siliguri Journalist Club on Tuesday, HHTDN members stressed the need for expert analysis of the hilly terrain along NH-10. The organization highlighted that since the recent disaster in Sikkim, the course of the Teesta River has changed significantly, causing frequent damage to the highway. The disruption has severely affected not only the tourism industry but also the overall connectivity between Bengal and Sikkim.
