VIP services to be cut down for top officials in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is planning to cut down VIP services. He asked to keep government functions simple and serve only vegetarian food or satvik food. During a meeting with Deputy Commissioner he asked, "Only simple vegetarian meals are to be served at all official meetings. This rule shall not apply to state guests." In a bizarre incident that came to light recently, a 60-year-old farmer from Madhya Pradesh had a 16-inch bottle gourd stuck in his rectum, which was successfully removed by a team of doctors after a two-hour long operation. The condition of the man, a resident of Khajuraho, was reportedly critical and he was suffering from severe stomach pain.According to TOI, after X-ray the gourd was detected in the back and doctors said the internal injury was caused by a foreign object. ICICI Bank Q1 results: Net profit upsurge 14.6% to ₹11,059 crore, NII up 7.3% YoY

Private sector lender ICICI Bank on Saturday reported a 14.6% year-on-year rise in its net profit for the first quarter of the current financial year (QIFY25), driven by higher treasury and other income. For the three months to June, the bank's net profit was ₹11,059 crore, compared with ₹9,648 crore in the same period last year.Growth in non-interest income, or other income, was a significant contributor, rising 23.3% year-on-year (YoY). India's second-largest private bank saw a rise in dividend income from its subsidiaries, with other income totaling ₹6,389 crore, compared to ₹5,183 crore a year ago. SBI Cards and Payment Services on April 26 announced an 11.05 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth in its net profit for the March quarter of financial year 2023-24 at ₹596.47 crore, compared to the reported ₹596.47 crore.
