Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is planning to cut down VIP services. He asked to keep government functions simple and serve only vegetarian food or satvik food. During a meeting with Deputy Commissioner he asked, "Only simple vegetarian meals are to be served at all official meetings. This rule shall not apply to state guests." Assam is aiming to set up country's third defence corridor in the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during his visit to New Delhi has presented the proposal to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Assam CM updating about the discussion with Defence Minister said, "After the setting up of a semiconductor unit in the state, we are keen that it becomes a defence production hub and Singh has responded positively to the proposal." However, setting up defence corridor in the state will significantly impact state's economy landscape.

Following, during the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) held in Delhi, the decision was taken to include the mound-burial system of the Ahom dynasty in Assam ‘Moidams' in the UNESCO World Heritage list. On Friday, UNESCO announced its addition of Assam's 'Moidams' site in the World Heritage list.
