An official of the Meghalaya Agriculture Department was swept away by strong currents of the Ganol River in West Garo Hills district while attempting to cross the water body during a family picnic, police said on Monday. The missing official, identified as Teseng M Sangma, was posted at Ampati in South West Garo Hills district and resided in staff quarters near Dolampong in Araimile police station area in Tura. The court of Judicial Magistrate (first class) DKK Mihsill granted further judicial custody of the accused in the Raja murder case, Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha and Vishal Chauhan, to 14 more days, from August 1. Assistant Public Prosecutor Tushar Chanda said the hearing was via video conference. On July 31, the other two accused-Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi, were also sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
