East Khasi Hills DM promulgates curfew in Mawkynrew Village

The District Magistrate (DM) of East Khasi Hills (EKH) district on Monday promulgated curfew at Mawkynrew Village under Madanrting Police Station with immediate effect, following reports of vandalism and destruction of property and person at Ramakrishna Mission School, Mawkynrew. In an order under Section 123 BNSS, EKH DM, Rosetta Mary Kurbah stated that, "These activities are likely  to continue with every likelihood of causing serious breach of peace and tranquility and may lead to loss of life and property." The order further stated that there is a serious deterioration of law and order in areas under Mawkynrew Village and the curfew will remain in place till further orders.

Meghalaya State League 2024: Semifinal dates announced

The Meghalaya Football Association has revealed the schedule for the semifinals of the Meghalaya State League (MSL) 2024. The first semifinal, featuring Ladthadlaboh and Mawlai, will take place at the SSA Stadium, Polo, on January 27 at 4:30 PM under lights. The second match, between Rymbai Shkenshynriah and Shillong Lajong, is set for January 28 at 1:30 PM at the Wahiajer Multipurpose Sports Complex. A study highlights disparities in Meghalaya’s educational system

A startling discrepancy between the number of schools and the state's population was found in a recent examination of Meghalaya's educational situation. Meghalaya has 14,582 schools, a sharp difference to Tripura's 4,929 establishments, although having a smaller population. There are 55,160 instructors spread throughout 4,172 aided schools and 7,783 government schools. In comparison, Manipur only has 4,617 schools despite having a nearly identical population. Less than 5% of all schools are nationally supported, but in Meghalaya, that number rises to 29%.
