BJP Kisan morcha holds state executive meeting, focuses on farmers’ welfare and outreach

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha, Meghalaya, on Tuesday held its State Executive meeting, with discussions centred on strengthening outreach among farmers and working towards doubling farmers’ income in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Addressing the meeting, the State President of BJP Kisan Morcha, Meghalaya, said the organisation was actively engaging with farmers across the state to understand their issues and support them. “Today we have a State Executive meeting. In this meeting, we had a lot of discussions on how to uplift the farmers as per our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dreams, especially to double farmers’ income,” he said.

He underlined the importance of the farming community in Meghalaya, stating, “Farmers are the backbone of our state. About 80 per cent of the population in Meghalaya depends on farming, including cultivation, horticulture, agriculture and livestock.” The State President expressed satisfaction over the wide participation at the meeting, noting that representatives from across the state attended. “We are very glad today. Members from all districts — Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills and Khasi Hills — are present here,” he said. He also outlined upcoming programmes as per the party’s national calendar, including a programme on September 25 to mark a birth anniversary observance, followed by ‘Balidan Diwas’, and the ‘Man Ki Baat’ programme scheduled for September 28. Speaking about the latter, he said, “Man Ki Baat is very unique. Our national leadership has instructed that every karyakarta should bring their own tiffin.

We will sit together and have food, which also symbolises unity and an early New Year greeting.” Sharing the organisation’s political goals, he said the Kisan Morcha would work to strengthen the BJP at the grassroots level. “From our Kisan Morcha, we are trying hard and will do our level best to help the party grow, especially in rural areas. Our target for the 2028 elections is to secure around 15 to 20 MLAs,” he stated. Rejecting misconceptions about the party, he added, “People are now willing to accept the BJP. It is not just about calling BJP a Hindu party. Prime Minister’s schemes have reached interior areas — free ration, housing, and even the Jal Jeevan Mission. Because of this, people are changing their mindset.” The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the BJP Kisan Morcha to intensify farmer-centric programmes across Meghalaya.
