At the Double-Decker Root Bridge in Meghalaya, yoga practitioners gather

Combining tradition, nature, and well-being, a special yoga session for aficionados was held at Meghalaya’s Double-Decker Living Root Bridge. The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) organized the unique yoga class in anticipation of the June 21 International Day of Yoga (IDY). In a statement released by the Ayush ministry, the participants said the occasion was a tribute to the harmony and tenacity of both nature and the human spirit. According to the statement, yoga represents patience, strength, and balance, much like the bridge itself, which has endured through generations of Khasi craftsmanship.

The live root bridge, which is a candidate for a UNESCO World Heritage title, is made completely of rubber fig tree aerial roots, forming a living, breathing passageway that gets stronger over time. It was the ideal location to demonstrate how yoga is more than simply a practice; it is a way of life that is in harmony with the natural world, surrounded by a lush rainforest and tumbling streams. Every place, from the Red Fort to the Gateway of India, from the Taj Mahal to the Konark Sun Temple, narrates a tale of wellbeing, culture, and history, it continued.
