Meghalaya cricketer Akash Chaudhary, who made headlines after smashing an 11-ball half-century against Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match, said it was his coach’s clear message to “go and attack” that gave him full confidence to play his natural game.
The 25-year-old batter, known for his aggressive batting style, said the team was preparing to declare their innings when the coach sent a message asking them to score quickly. “We had to declare soon, that’s why the coach told us to attack. That gave me freedom to play my shots,” Akash said while speaking to reporters after the match. “It was a lucky day for me because I was connecting the ball well. My aim is always to give my best. Results will come if we put in the right effort,” he added.
Akash’s performance was one of the highlights of the match, as he hit eight consecutive sixes, thrilling local cricket fans and giving Meghalaya’s team a strong position in the game. His innings showed both power and timing, and his ability to stay calm under pressure impressed many. Reflecting on his approach, Akash said he always tries to stay focused on the basics. “For me, honesty and hard work matter most. I always play with full commitment to the team. Whatever the match situation, I try to contribute in the best way I can,” he said.
