AI-Driven Governance: Madhya Pradesh government to launch policy for public benefit

Mohan Yadav, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, declared that the state government will implement a specific artificial intelligence (AI) policy with the goal of enhancing public welfare and governance. Speaking at the Regional AI Impact Conference in Bhopal, which was conducted in partnership with the India AI Mission, Yadav stated that, with backing from the Center, the state is adopting proactive measures to make AI the foundation of transparent, effective, and citizen-centric governance. “On this unique occasion, I would like to declare that the Madhya Pradesh government will implement an AI policy to improve the state’s governance structure and guarantee the welfare of its citizens. The Chief Minister stated that the application of AI must be centered on the general welfare.

Yadav also introduced the Madhya Pradesh Space Tech Policy at the occasion, emphasizing the state’s intention to use cutting-edge technologies for innovation and growth. The state’s main AI vision document, “AI for People, Planet and Progress: Madhya Pradesh Roadmap to Impact,” was delivered by senior state officials, including Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and Additional Chief Secretary (Science and Technology) Sanjay Dubey. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain told the crowd that AI will play a crucial role in many industries and that future generations will be more focused on research. He acknowledged worries that the adoption of AI might result in job losses, but he maintained that these worries are unfounded.

“The application of AI won’t endanger employment prospects. New possibilities will arise, even though some current employment may be replaced or changed. Similar concerns were voiced when computerization first emerged, which eventually resulted in more jobs,” according to Jain. Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey stated that Madhya Pradesh has become a leader in data generation, emphasizing the significance of data in AI-driven administration. “The first state in the nation to have real, in-house data instead of data that is outsourced is Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, we are helping other states, including as Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala, create their own data ecosystems,” Dubey stated.
