National People’s Party (NPP) national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized the party’s readiness for the forthcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections during an address at the Betasing party office in Southwest Garo Hills. Addressing ongoing challenges faced by the GHADC, such as salary backlogs and administrative disruptions, the Chief Minister revealed that the state government has taken proactive measures by forming a committee to engage in dialogue with the Member of District Councils (MDCs) and employees. This initiative led to the release of advance royalty shares aimed at clearing salary arrears and ensuring timely payments. Furthermore, during the event, Sangma launched the NPP Calendar 2026 and distributed sports equipment to various villages, highlighting the party’s outreach efforts and commitment to encouraging youth participation in sports.
