A six-wheeled truck fell into a gorge close to Chitoktak on National Highway 217B, near Tura, while en route to Guwahati after delivering goods at Garobada.
The incident took place at approximately 9:30 pm, but was mitigated by large PHE water supply pipes.
The cause remains unclear, and this event has heightened concerns regarding the rising number of speeding heavy vehicles along the Rongkon–Chitoktak–Chandmari section of NH 217B.
Residents have called on authorities to implement stricter speed regulations at night, install warning signs, and increase patrolling efforts to avert future accidents.
