A complaint has ST commission against a YouTuber for allegedly vilifying Meghalaya tribals

A formal complaint has been lodged with the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes against Sushil Guru and YouTube content creator Raghav Sharma for disseminating defamatory material that disparages the tribal communities of Meghalaya. The complaint asserts that a video on Sharma’s YouTube channel, Supertalks, features Sushil Guru, who purports to be an astrologer, making offensive remarks about the tribal communities, including allegations of human sacrifice and cannibalism. The complaint references several provisions under criminal, constitutional, and human rights law. It calls for immediate intervention and legal measures against the spread of objectionable content on digital platforms. Advocate Enlang Sawian appeals to the commission to take suo motu cognizance, investigate the actions of the individuals and media platforms involved, issue directives to remove or limit access to the video and associated articles, and recommend punitive measures under the BNS and SC/ST Act.
