11-Year-Old Shelevah N Jyrwa Clinches Sur Kynud Season 4 Title

Eleven-year-old Shelevah N Jyrwa from Laimer, Upper Shillong, was crowned the winner of Sur Kynud Season 4 at the grand finale held on Thursday at the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Laitumkhrah.
Organized by the Don Bosco Media Network Television (DBMNTV) under the leadership of Director Fr. Michael Makri, the competition concluded with eight talented finalists competing for the coveted top prize of Rs 1 lakh. The event showcased remarkable musical performances, reflecting months of dedication and rigorous training.
The grand finale was attended by East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh, who lauded the Salesians for their commitment to nurturing young talent. She emphasized that such platforms encourage youth to develop discipline, confidence, and perseverance in pursuit of their dreams. Also present were Fr. Fidel Orendain, General Councillor from Rome, and Fr. John Zosiama, Provincial of the Shillong Province.
Fr. Michael Makri credited the program’s continued success to the unwavering support of the state government, donors, and parents. He noted that throughout the season, contestants underwent systematic training under experienced coaches Lapdiang and Kheiñkor, who helped them refine their vocal skills and stage presence.
Sur Kynud has steadily grown into a prominent cultural platform aimed at promoting musical talent among young people in the region. This year’s edition once again highlighted the vibrant artistic potential of Meghalaya’s youth.
With her impressive performance and dedication, Shelevah emerged as a deserving winner, marking a proud moment for her family and community. The event not only celebrated musical excellence but also reinforced the importance of providing constructive avenues for youth development and creative expression.
