This football-focused stadium will have a seating capacity of 40,000 and will be the biggest in the nation. “We are really looking forward to this,” he continued. A Rs 175-crore project to improve the state’s tourism infrastructure and provide sweeping views of Shillong city was officially launched earlier last month when Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma laid the cornerstone for Meghalaya’s first passenger ropeway project at Shillong Peak Viewpoint.
President Droupadi Murmu first lay the foundation stone in January 2024. Both domestic and foreign tourists are anticipated to be drawn to the project, which links Shillong Peak and Lawsohtun. The construction phase officially began when Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh gave the construction partnership KEC International Limited – Tantia Construction Limited JV the letter of acceptance. The French business POMA will provide essential equipment for the ropeway’s construction.
